The GICAT, a professional group created in 1978, has more than 390 members representing large groups and SMEs. These members cover a broad spectrum of industrial, research, service and consulting activities for the benefit of military and civil, national and international components involved in land or airland security and/or defence.
In 2017, the GICAT, a pioneer in the French defence and security innovation ecosystem, launched its “Generate” program enabling French start-ups to comprehend and integrate the world of defence and security.
The GICAT represents the interests of the French land and airland defence and security industries around five objectives:
- To be a driving source behind proposals through its 7 commissions (SME, Security, International, Support and Services, Research, Technology and Innovation, Communication and HR).
- To organise the dialogue between users, institutions and manufacturers of the sector
- To offer services to its members to promote their development in France and abroad.
- To create a favorable environment for exchanges between manufacturers
- To promote the know-how and the image of the industry in France and internationally
The GICAT’s international influence relies on the Eurosatory international trade fairs in France, Expodefensa in Colombia, ShieldAfrica in Côte d’Ivoire, as well as on the French pavilions of a number of defence and/or security exhibitions abroad, organised by its subsidiary COGES EVENTS.
